Las Patentes NO se venden. ¡ Se compran!

Esta semana le dije a un potencial cliente: “Paco, las Patentes No se Venden. Se compran”
Me miró con cara rara y… ¡chupito!
Como no estoy seguro de que Paco me entendiera, como cada domingo, espero que lea este mensaje
Amigo, lo cierto es que la frase me la he traído del sector de las inversiones privadas, creo que ya te había contado que venimos de allí.
Durante la última década, invertimos en más de 30 empresas innovadoras.
El objetivo estaba claro, ganar dinero cuando se vendieran las empresas a un valor muy superior al de nuestra entrada.
¡Ya te lo puedes imaginar!
La vida o muerte dependía de si se vendía o no cada empresa participada.
En ese “juego” aprendí que poner una empresa en venta, era un suicidio económico en la mayoría de los casos.
La clave estaba en ser comprados, parece lo mismo, pero hay varios cientos de miles de euros de diferencia.
A base de hostias, aprendimos que las empresas no se vendían, sino qué tenían que hacer todos los deberes de forma excelente, para llamar la atención y ser compradas.
Si quieres vender tu coche viejo, probablemente no se te ocurra pedir más de 2000 €, pero si es alguien que se enamora…..
Parece un trabalenguas, pero es una verdad como una casa.
¡Sorpresa! Este principio tan básico, lo olvidamos en el mundo de los inventores.
Pero amigo, de verdad crees que por 5000€ alguien va a registrar tu gran idea y además va a vender esa patente.
¡Por dios!
Lo cierto es que el camino es tan largo como el que tuvimos que aprender durante 10 años.
Para que la venta de tu patente sea una opción real, no puedes dejarte ningún deber en el tintero:
Paso 0: Sueña con tus potenciales compradores. ¡No se te ocurra molestarles hasta el paso 7.
Paso 1: Demuestra que tu invento funciona, incluso antes de patentarlo, evita pagar por papel mojado.
Paso 3: Recuerda que las patentes, una vez presentadas, no se modifican. Por tanto, confía en tu instinto e ingenio, pero no menosprecies lo que un equipo especializado puede aportar a tu solución. Así, no solo registrarás un invento, sino que protegerás la mejor versión del mismo. Esto es lo que hacemos en Let´s Prototype.
Paso 4: Estudia los antecedentes de tu invento, detecta tendencias del mercado y evalúa la estrategia de los potenciales compradores que conviven y tienen éxito en el mercado.
Paso 5: Selecciona la mejor estrategia para proteger tu invento. El Modelo de Utilidad es una gran fórmula, pero no siempre es la mejor. Apóyate en profesionales y protege tu invento. Si lo hiciste antes… ¡Puede ser un error!
Paso 6: Invierte tiempo y dinero en el estudio de la transición del prototipo al producto final industrializable.
Paso 7: Desarrolla un plan en base a argumentos de negocio que encajen en tus potenciales compradores.
Pon en marcha las acciones para que vean “casualmente tu invento” y comienza las negociaciones. Preferiblemente, acompañado de profesionales con experiencia contrastable en este tipo de negocios.

Business Director - Inventors' Advisor at Let´s Prototype
Erick Remedios has been linked to entrepreneurship and the launch of innovative projects and inventions for over a decade. His start in the entrepreneurship sector began as the Project Management Director at the network of Private Investors, Business In Fact, S.A., a club of private investors specialized in high-risk investments, which he ended up managing as General Director for at least 5 years.
